This special Mexican holiday is celebrated throughout the US too. More traditionally, it’s a special holiday where families welcome back the souls of their deceased relatives for a brief reunion that includes food, drink and celebration. In honor of this year’s Dia De Los Muertos, we made cookies! Take a look at how you can make shimmer skulls, roses and a signature plaque cookie.

Plaque Cookie:
Begin by outlining the plaque cookie in whiteFlood the cookie in whiteUsing a projector, we found a fun font and added the wording. It’s best to use a little thicker icing for writing so it holds its shapeAdd a rose to tie in the rest of your set. Outline in black
Skull Cookie:
Paint the background of the skull shape with dark purple and add an generous amount of edible glitterOutline the shape of the skull including a line across just below the nostrils, add the eyes, nostrils and a mouthFlood the cookie leaving the eyes, nostrils and mouth exposed to the glitter belowAdd a mouthful of teeth
Finally, add roses and leaves
Rose Cookies:
Outline the rose cookie using red or purple
