We both love the beach so much we had to create this shore inspired cookie set. There is something about the coastal color palette that is soothing like a breath of fresh air. Besides, who doesn’t want to live by the motto, Life’s a Beach!

  • Cookie cutters – circle, rectangle, long rectangle, starfish, and seashell
  • Boo boo stick
  • Airbrush colors – pearl and light brown
  • White sanding sugar

Steps for making coral cookies

Based on the artful form of the natural spike coral, this cookie lends an aquatic note to the Life’s a Beach Cookie set. With an aqua background, the white coral really pops. It’s a simple cookie to make but adds so much to the set.

Undoubtedly, sea stars are some of the most unusual creatures you can find in the tide pool. We could spend hours watching them move. These echinoderms come in many shapes, sizes, and colors. But it is the sea star’s texture and pattern that makes this alluring to create in cookie form.

No matter how far from the ocean you are, you can still hold a this type of seashell up to your ear and hear the roar of the waves rolling onto the shore. Can’t you imagine it now? The best shells for producing this sound are the large, spiral conch shells.

Pipe a little brown icing onto shell to create shadow at opening

Next, smear the icing around to create an ear shape

There is nothing more exciting than walking along the shore and finding a complete sand dollar. Without a doubt, it makes you feel like you found a million bucks. Although these sea creatures do not start out white, after the creature dies, its skeleton becomes bleached by the sun and the star design becomes more prominent.

Start by outlining the circle with a squiggly line and then pipe 5 ovals in the middle of the cookie
Fill cookie with flood consistency icing and allow to dry
Finish cookie by piping a rounded star shape in the center

Steps for making Life’s a Beach board cookies

Some things are just meant to be used as decorations. For example, who could resist the charm and beauty of driftwood? With this in mind, we had to use a driftwood background for our statement cookie to complete the Life’s a Beach Cookie set.

Start this cookie by squeezing lines of brown pipe consistency icing onto the cookie
Next, squeeze a few lines of sand color and/or aqua
Using a brush, smear the colors together moving your brush in the direction of the wood grain
After icing has set for a couple of minutes, use a boo boo stick to draw lines for the wood planks
Finish off cookie by piping a statement or name
